Pittsboro Christian Village is a community of Christians who chose to live near each other on purpose. Everyone here is a believer. That shapes everything: the friendships, the calendar, and the conversations in the café at seven in the morning.
We are a licensed Continuing Care Retirement Community. Whatever level of support you need now or later, it is here on the same campus, with the same neighbors. Most people arrive fully independent. Many stay that way for years.
We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit ministry. Resident fees do not fund the Benevolent Fund or building improvements. Those come from gifts.

Andrew Boom
Executive Director
Andrew and his family came to serve at Pittsboro Christian Village in 2024 from Dubuque, Iowa, where they were in fellowship at Arbor Oaks Bible Chapel. He attended Emmaus Bible College and Union University, earning a Bible certificate and a bachelor's degree in education. His background includes education, marketing, healthcare, and senior living leadership. Andrew is passionate about making the Village a place where the Lord's people can thrive in this stage of life.

Tom Major
Director of Finance and Administration
Tom, his wife Cassie, and their four children came from Dubuque, Iowa, with a desire to serve the Lord in a Christ-centered community. Their family was in fellowship at Arbor Oaks Bible Chapel, where Tom served as a deacon. He studied Bible Exposition and Theology at Emmaus University, including New Testament Greek. His experience in accounting, payroll, compliance, and organizational systems supports daily life across the Village.

Benny and Sanila Thomas
Director of Facility Services and Director of Resident Care
Benny and Sanila relocated to the Village in 2023 from Sedge Garden Chapel in Kernersville. Benny applies years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor for New York City Transit to the buildings, equipment, systems, and grounds. Sanila, formerly a Lead RN at Novant Health in Winston-Salem, tends to the daily health needs of Care Home residents and oversees the staff who serve them.

Sarah Norris
Director of Resident Services
Sarah lives in Pittsboro with her husband and their son. She earned her degree from Arizona State University and brings a genuine love for people, a spirit of service, and a heart for meaningful community. She helps residents feel known, valued, and at home, with special attention to welcoming new neighbors into the Village.

Sherry Gay
Director of Activities
Sherry has served as Director of Activities since 1998. Through daily activities, she encourages physical engagement, mental stimulation, spiritual vitality, and purpose. Sherry fellowships with the believers at Shannon Hills Bible Chapel in Greensboro and considers it a joy to serve the Lord through investing in residents, families, and fellow staff members.

The purpose has changed with the years. The dependence on prayer and faithful service has not.

A group of believers buys the property to serve as a home for children.

Volunteers from area assemblies renovate the building. Funds are raised exclusively through prayer.

Nearly 200 children are cared for here.

New licensing directives move children toward foster homes, and the work begins a new chapter.

The Village becomes a place where senior believers can enjoy fellowship and continue to serve.

A dozen cottages are added, and Pittsboro Bible Assembly begins on the grounds.

There Are So Many Great Stories.
Day trips. Shopping runs. Men's and women's Bible studies, conferences, and spontaneous hymn sings. Gardeners, model train lovers, morning walkers, exercise groups, and friends over coffee. Here are a few stories people have shared with us.
Our home...
As far as my wife and I are concerned the assembly is the thing that sets Pittsboro Christian Village ahead of other places. We meet together on Lord's Day morning. We don't have to go out into the weather. It's maybe 45 seconds from our apartment right into the meeting room.
It's just a wonderful meeting; I don't know anything that's lacking. We have the Lord's Supper each week, and afterwards we have ministry in God's Word. We have speakers from all over the eastern part of the states and gifted local brothers.
When we left Charlotte years ago, I looked at my wife and she looked at me. We prayed together. I said, 'we're going home.' And that's what it's been for all these years.

A place of love
As subtle shifts began to emerge in mom's health, we started looking for best choices to balance independence and help with her progressive health limitations. Pittsboro Christian Village was the answer to our prayers. Even though the transition was challenging, mom loved the steady diet of spiritual food via Bible studies, meetings and conferences. The community of Christian fellowship filled her heart with love and praise for her Creator and Redeemer.
When some friends stopped by to visit, they asked what she was doing, and she replied, 'Oh, I'm just sitting here letting Jesus love me.'

We looked at other options as we were considering where we were going to live. This was the right choice for a lot of reasons.
From here, it doesn't take us long to get to Chapel Hill. You're not real close to big shops. But they're not that far either.
The house is laid out very well. We have ample space for everything, and it really works.

Opportunities to minister...
There are so many things to do here that it was hard to find time to unpack. There's opportunity to minister to the people here. And they, in turn, minister back.
We have more freedom now than when we had a big home and had to mow the lawn and clean the gutters.

The fellowship is wonderful.
I was out shoveling snow (in Pennsylvania) in the winter of 2017 and I said, maybe it's time to contact Pittsboro.
We prayed about it. Put the house on the market on a Wednesday. A couple looked Thursday afternoon, and made an offer on Friday, full price, conventional loan.
The fellowship with other believers is really wonderful. I take turns with the Wednesday morning men's Bible study. Speak once in a while. Visit folks.
I like the idea that I don't have to be responsible for things here around the house.

It's unique!
It wasn't my plan to move here, but it was the Lord's.
We had visited here, so we knew about the place.
When I considered moving here, I knew this was the Lord's path for me. It's a great place. It's unique. I love the fellowship. And teaching.
We're all still growing in the Lord. There is a lot of opportunity for fellowship. My phone is always ringing.

My husband was on the board for 20 years, so Pittsboro Christian Village was not a stranger to me. It was always such a blessing having these fine speakers in our home, and then coming to Pittsboro and hearing them here, too!
I like visiting in the care home. I was down there for three months when I broke my wrist. The staff was so good to me.

My friend who lived here said, 'Come and look. Spend a week here.' So I did. And that was it.
Everything was brand new when I moved in. They just did everything A+. It's beautiful. It's wonderful.
My kids say, 'Aren't you bored; what do you do?'
I have plenty to do. I'm involved with the Emmaus prison ministry. Swap shop. Ladies study. Exercise. Scripture memory. I have fun. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
You can always look back and see how the Lord was working.

My mom resided here until she went to be with the Lord. I used to come and help out in the kitchen. Really got to know the place when my mom lived here.
I'm not retired yet. But I decided I'm ready to give up home ownership and the difficulties that go with it.
I was ready. The availability came up. And I'm very happy here.
I just LOVE this place. And I talk about it all the time. I tell people my age, 'COME NOW! Don't wait until you need care.'

I've lived here almost six years. But I've been coming down here more than fifty. It wasn't anything new to me. It gets better all the time. We all do little things to help each other.
We've got a lot of good activities here, regardless of age, if you want to participate. My favorite is going down to the café before breakfast. Sitting around with 4-5 people and having coffee.

The Lord brought me here a little over four years ago. I haven't been sorry for a moment.
I had a beautiful home up in Pennsylvania. And I have a beautiful home here.
I can be busy. As busy as I want. And I can go to the care home when I need that level of care.

We've met quite a few people and had good fellowship with. One thing in particular are the Wednesday morning Bible Studies.
